The Whiles NYC at Long Story Short gallery.
Photographer and Filmmaker Cheryl Dunn’s solo exhibition The Whiles NYC launches this Friday the 17th of October at Long Story Short gallery, New York.
Widely recognised for her street photography and documentary filmmaking. The exhibition is a personal exploration of the city's ever evolving street culture, drawn from decades of Dunn’s photographic archive.
Dunn uncovers unexpected connections between people, places, and time, revealing intimate, layered narratives about how New Yorkers move, communicate, and coexist in public space.
The exhibition also includes BLACKOUT NY 2003, a video installation shot during the 29-hour power outage in August 2003. Documenting spontaneous street parties, shared meals, and collective joy in the face of darkness, the piece captures a rare moment of unity and celebration in post-9/11 downtown NYC.
Cheryl will also in conversation with Drew Sawyer on the 27th of October at Nine Orchard Hotel about her vast body of work and upcoming exhibition. RSVP's are a necessity. More information about the talk and how to sign up here.
