Shane was commissioned by Curbed to photograph the area and residents of Bywater, New Orleans. Today, Bywater is one of the city’s most beloved neighbourhoods, but there is much debate about its rapidly evolving future: Since the neighbourhood was nearly spared from Hurricane Katrina due to its relatively high elevation, new residents and developers have been attracted to its maintained architecture and low flood risk.
